Sources & Notes

Source: Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS)

Notes: All estimates are based on self-reported data. Binge drinking was defined as 5 or more drinks for men or 4 or more drinks for women on an occasion. Fruit and vegetable intake was only ascertained in odd years. US estimates are based on data from the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands (only in 2016). All population-level estimates are weighted to account for complex survey design and sociodemographic characteristics of the survey respondents. Estimates based on fewer than 50 interviews have been suppressed due to unreliability (denoted with *). The placeholder NA is used when specific measures were not assessed in certain calendar years or among certain subpopulations.
