Notes: All estimates of prediabetes are based on self-reported data. Survey respondents were asked, “have you ever been told by a doctor or other health professional that you have pre-diabetes or borderline diabetes?”. Those who answered “yes” were classified as “diagnosed with prediabetes”.  Due to the self-reported nature of the data, these values are likely an underestimate of prediabetes prevalence because undiagnosed cases were not detected and recorded. US estimates are based on data from available states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Virgin Islands (only in 2016). Estimates based on fewer than 50 respondents have been suppressed and denoted with *.  N/A denotes unavailable data.
